Summer is just around the corner. Bormio allows you to spend a relaxing holiday without neglecting exercise in the open air.

Bormio is a spectacular resort. Boasting a large number of ski runs, ancient hot springs and mouth-watering traditional local dishes, it attracts tourists from all over.

Unknown to many, Bormio offers a host of summers sports, the perfect combination between relax and exercise in a location surrounded by breath-taking sceneries.

Whether you enjoy walking, cycling, swimming in the hot springs or playing golf, Bormio is bound to ensure its visitors unique experiences and a perfect holiday.

In the town, it is possible to practice sports for experienced athletes, who can find interesting paths and activities to push their boundaries, as well as for people who simply want to play tennis with their family or go mountain biking.

The sports that visitors can practice in Bormio are listed below.

There is nothing better than hiking to enjoy the natural beauty of Valtellina whilst keeping in shape. Spring, summer and autumn are the ideal seasons; the temperature is pleasant, the air is pure, a far cry from the pollution of the cities, especially if you reach higher altitudes, such as in the trails around the magnificent Bormio. Located at 1,225 metres above sea level, Bormio is set in a large natural amphitheatre in the middle of the Alps, part of Parco Nazionale dello Stelvio (Stelvio National Park), boasting stunning and pristine landscapes.

Simply ideal for mountain walks!

Bormio offers a wide range of mountain bike and racing bike trails, in Stelvio National Park.
The downhill run network covers an elevation drop of 600 metres, starting from an altitude of 2527, at Conca Valbella, and ending at 1952 m in Bormio 2000. To reach Valbella, riders must reach an altitude of 3000 metres aboard the “Whitelady3000” and then follow the road on a rocky terrain.

Tennis lovers can play this sport in Bormio throughout the year. Bormio Servizi runs three artificial grass outdoor courts, which can be used in spring and summer, and one indoor court, which may be booked all year round.

The tennis courts are located in Via Manzoni at Pentagono.

Fornace, located in close proximity to Bormio, offers a very well maintained 9 hole golf course. The course is connected to a practice court, a putting green, a pitching green, a well stocked pro-shop and a club house with a bar and a restaurant.

The golf course covers 4236 metres and blends very well with the surroundings. The peaks around the valley can be admired all along the golf course, which is nestled in the vegetation.

Discover Valtellina on horseback, riding through rural villages and pastures.

You start from the banks of the river Adda, along the Sentiero Valtellina and then go up the valleys of Parco delle Orobie Valtellinesi. Or choose the high altitudes, between Bormio and Santa Caterina Valfurva, where horse riding takes you directly to the heart of Stelvio National Park.

If you are an angler, you will certainly not be bored, given the abundance of mountain lakes and streams in the surrounding valleys.

Water is a major feature of Valtellina. Its purity is proven by the presence of the sought-after grayling; other fish like the brown, marble, rainbow and brook trouts can also be found in these waters.

Fishing in Valtellina is a fun experience for the entire family. Choose one of the many lakes and streams or reach one of the many angling areas along the Sentiero Valtellina, on the banks of the river Adda.

Enjoy a bike ride and a day fishing amongst ever so stunning views.

If you love nature and are passionate about hiking, you must try nordic walking in Valtellina.

This walk with poles is gaining popularity and can be tried both on the mountain paths and on the flatter areas, along the banks of the river Adda.

If you feel more adventurous, Bormio offers you the possibility of trying hang-gliding and paragliding.

There are several launch areas, where you can let the wind cradle you, in total silence, surrounded by amazing views.

Your adventure can be made even more exciting by the Breva, the warm southern wind blowing from lake Como up to the high Valtellina. You can leave from Carnale,1250 metres above Sondrio, to land at the bottom of the valley. Or you can jump from Cima Bianca, 3000 metres high, to land in Bormio: a very long flight with a drop in elevation of 1800 metres. You can also try tandem paragliding by flying with an instructor.
